IE Never ceases to piss me off. If you see a scrollbar at the bottom that leads to empty space, just ignore it until I find a fix for it. I'm not a web designer by trade, so it may take me a bit longer than nearly any other website that uses a pro, or isn't a template. The side menu looks quite nice in Firefox and Opera, as it stays in place as you scroll down the side. I still haven't made the switch to firefox 2, and I'm not sure how it'll affect the design, meaning I'm not yet sure if they follow different rules for HTML and CSS decoding. Just for some random information, I test my code in three browsers, IE, Firefox and Opera, so if there are any anomalies in my code outside of that, let me know and I'll do my best to fix it.
Moving on to actual news, Shane and I recorded a song, and for all purposes it's done. The only thing is it's not really done, as the first section of the first verse needs to be re-recorded. Rather than saying I'm done, I'll say that it would have been done, if it weren't for the bad recording on the first verse. It's quite a good song, more of a funny song that we threw together. The concept came to us as we wrote the first few lines and the song just grew from there.
I'll be posting it as soon as it's done, Shane kinda doesn't want me to, but fuck, I need some content on this site.
So a few things of interest today, well, at least I found them interesting, and I'll hopefully force you to see the interest as well.
Shane and I are writing a song that we just diss each other constantly in, and it's pretty humourous (Canadian Spelling)so far. Kind of a fun idea ala "All in the Family" by either Korn or Limp Bizkit, I can't quite remember. A big difference, however, is that both Shane and I actually have rhyming skills. Don't get me wrong, they made a good song, but it's not like I'd ever compliment them on their lyricism.
I recorded some lyrics for a rock song today called Influence, and so far I'm liking my voice. I do have to go back and rerecord a few parts but for an hour long session I'm really liking the results. I found that my voice really opened up if I was singing to a previous take, rather than just the instrumental backing. So my basic recording process is this
Every take that I sang sounded better and better, which I think is mainly because I was less afraid to sing each time, kind of like singing along to someone else with your walkman blasting. Usually you don't give a shit when no one's around and you and you just wanna rock out.
Youtube never ceases to amaze me. I may have come across the best synthesis toy in the world. Seriously, it's like back to the basics (in a futuristic sort of way), with wave forms, voltage control, filters, low frequency oscillators, and all that jazz. The only real difference is that you don't hook and rewire patch cables, you just move some blocks around on rad looking screen. Well that and there's no keyboard for different notes, only the spinning of the blocks to determine the pitch. It looks fun as hell to play with, I wonder how much one would cost me?
Wow, if two updates back to back wasn't exciting enough for you then three updates back to back to back hopefully is.
In the somewhat distant, but not too distant, past, I should have posted this funny youtube clip, but better late than never.
Basically this is a small skit that a friend of mine made, and enlisted me to play Da CrackMasta, a character that I created that seems to find its way into several projects. Brendon will probably object to my saying this, but I have to apologize for the horrendous rap at the end. I wrote it the day before, and I couldn't spit out that last line. Brendon left my fuck-ups intact, and it's funnier that way, but my excuse has been given. I'm also off beat because there was no beat to rap to, and Brendon thought it'd be funny to just superimpose a beat overtop of the rap. Again, it's quite funny, but you can't hold my poor rap against me.
This doesn't happen too often, but it's back to back updates! I've mastered the ways of RSS feeds, and now nothing can stop me. There's not much news other than that, and I've had some creator's block with the song I intended to work on tonight. Well, technically I did work on it, I just didn't save anything that I did because it was all garbage.
So Shane stopped by yesterday to have a recording session, the first one I've done so far recording some rap material. Shane did fairly well, I have to say. We've both been away from the mic for quite some time, and it seems that I'm a little rustier than he is.
My tongue used to be quite more nimble at producing syllables than it used to be. Now it seems to fail at the hint of intricacy. I can't help but wonder if this is from my wisdom teeth being removed from way back when. Scratch that, it's is because of my wisdom teeth. Even tho the operation was over half year ago, the right side of my tongue still suffers from numbness. It's not as extreme as it used to be, as I used to be able to bite down on it with my right fangs and not feel a thing. Presently when I do the same bite, I can feel a slight discomfort.
I'm also messing around with an RSS feed, so as soon as I get it up and running, I'll have a link to it. It's not very creatively named, so if you try a few things in the root directory, I'm sure you can find it.
